Solar batteries provide grid independence

Grid Connect solar power is instantaneous power, use it or lose it.

Solar power is generated during daylight hours, particularly during the peak solar hours from 8am to 4pm. If this power is not used at the time by appliances in the house, any excess is exported back to utility grid. The electricity retailer will not pay much for this exported power compared with the rates that you are charged by the electricity retailer when power is used from the grid.

If you are not using all your solar power during the day, then a great way to benefit from a solar system is to store this excess energy in a battery and then use it when you need it during the night. Even after you go to bed and turn off the lights, there are appliances running such as refrigerators, air conditioners, hot water, etc, that can make the most of this stored energy.
